Anchor — A Nested Reflection and Planning System

Stop starting every review from a blank page.

Most planning systems break for the same reason: every weekly, monthly, and yearly review asks you to remember everything from scratch. Anchor fixes that with one idea, the cascade. Each template is a summary of the one below it. Your daily notes feed one weekly review. Your weekly reviews feed one monthly review. Your monthly reviews feed one yearly review.

This is the exact cascade I use myself. I wrote up how it compounds over a year in How My Note System Compounds.

What You Get

  • Daily Note — a 2 to 3 minute checkpoint: intention, Top 3, log, gratitude, shutdown
  • Weekly Review — wins, friction, metrics, lessons, and next week’s Top 3
  • Monthly Review — theme, goal progress, a 6 area life dashboard, next month’s focus
  • Yearly Review and Plan — full year in review and year ahead, word of the year, vision, annual goals, quarterly milestones, and systems
  • Start Here guide plus a fully worked daily example

Built to Last

Works in Obsidian and any Markdown editor. No plugins required, supercharged with Templater and Dataview. Plain text you own, no subscription, no lock-in.

Who It’s For

People who want a calm, durable planning rhythm without another app to babysit. Knowledge workers, writers, founders, and anyone rebuilding a steady week.

Anchor is the daily layer. If you want the full system it plugs into, including the AI that runs the reviews with you, see the Henry OS Starter Kit.

FAQ

Do I need Obsidian to use Anchor? No. It works in any Markdown editor. Obsidian just adds optional automation via Templater and Dataview.

How is this different from a habit tracker? Anchor isn’t a tracker, it’s a cascade. Each review is built from the one below it, so the yearly review is already half-written by the time you sit down for it.
